Guerowol Festival & Culture

Day by Day!

Day 1: Arrival Ouagadougou- 10 Sept 2021

Reception and transfer to the hotel, briefing on the trip with our local team.

Overnight with hotel Calao or similar

Day 2: Ouagadougou – Bazole –Bobo Dioulasso (365 km) 11 Sept 2021

After breakfast you will leave for Bobo the second city of the country and former colonial capital. Deviation by Bazoulé to see the crocodiles sacred, protected and venerated by the inhabitants. Lunch along the way in boromo.

Afternoon , we continues to Koro located ten kilometers east of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, it is located on a rocky hill 3 km to the right on the Bobo axis. Arrival and meeting with our local organization which will lead us to the visit of the traitorical authorities then the village. Here we will organize a traditional bobo dance that will reflect the different masks of the locality. Continuation on Bobo in the evening. Arrival, installation at the hotel. Relaxation in an animated maquis.

Day 3: Bobo Dioulasso – Banfora (85 km) 12 Sept 2021

After breakfast, Visit of the big market, one of the most beautiful of West Africa, the big mosque and the old quarter of Dioulasso Bâ, the districts of Koko and Bolomakoté for the animation which prevails there, the numerous bronziers and manufacturers of djembes and balafons who live

there. Each neighborhood is a village with its mosque or church, its market, its craftsmen. After Lunch, departure to Banfora, arrival and installation in hotel Cascade palace.

Day 4: Banfora – Sindou – Banfora (150 Km) 13 Sept 2021

After breakfast departure for Sindou, locality located 50 km from Banfora where we will discover the peaks of the city. Lunch at camp SOUTRALA. Continue on Niansogoni located 85km from Banfora, discover the village perched on the hill. Return to Banfora in the evening. Evening of relaxation.

Day 5: Banfora – Gaoua (185 km)-14-09 Sept 2021

After breakfast departure for the domes of Fabédougou and the cascades of Karfiguela crossing the fields of sugarcane Banfora. After lunch, departure to Gaoua, we will stop at the villages of Lorepeni and Obire where we will meet the members of the Gan tribe, a people that is totally isolated from the outside world and still lives in a very traditional way. In Loropeni, we will visit the ruins of an unknown fort world heritage of Unesco and the fetish village of Kapti.

Day 6: Gaoua– Tiebele – Ouaga -380 km) –Flight to Niamey 15 Sept 2021

After breakfast, departure for Tiébelé where we will meet the people Gourounsi. In this region, we will discover a traditional architecture rich in colors and visit the chieftaincy with possible to organize the dancing traditional gurrussi.

Direction Ouaga after the discovery of the village and the royal family, possible lunch in Po and arrival we will arrive in the afternoon and transfer to the hotel.

Day 7: Niamey – Tahoua (540 km) -16 Sept 2021

After breakfast, departure for Tahoua,

Stop at the Sultan’s Palace around Dosso and continuation to Tahoua. Arrival and installation at the hotel Tarka.

Day 8: Tahoua – Abalak- Abirdigui (260 km)- 17 sept 2021

Breakfast and departure early to Abirdigui

Stop in Abalak for lunch in restaurant. Continuation to the fulani village where we will make the festival gerowol. Arrival and installation our tentes around the village.

Day 9,10 : Abirdigui – Gerewol Ceremony – 18 -19 sept 2021

After Breakfast, place in the Gerewol Festival which is an annual courtship competition among the Wodaabe Fula people. Young men are dressed to impress. They have elaborate outfits on and there are many different examples of traditional face painting. Here, we will stay during 1 day with the incredible opportunity to meet and interact with Wodaabé families and spend some time with them before heading back to Abalak. The Bororo (Wodaabé) people are very proud of their environment and where they are from and do not prefer cities and the sedentary life.

Day 11 : Abirdigui – Abalak – Tahoua – 20 sept 20201

After breakfast, departure to Tahoua

Stop in Abalak for the lunch and continuation our road for Tahoua. Arrival and installation to the hotel Tarka

Overnight in hotel Tarka or Similar

Day 12 : Tahoua – Niamey via Kouré (Giraffes) (398 km) – 22 sept 2021

This morning we will transfer to Niamey.

We will make a small detour where we can visit the last giraffes of West Africa in freedom. Arrival in Niamey and transfert to Hotel Terminus or sahel hotel.

Day 13: Niamey – Flight to Moscou -23 sept 2021

Breakfast and visit Niamey in the morning, the different market. After lunch in the restaurant Cabane and we will organize a traditional fight. Transfer to the airport after dinner in evening
