Visit the Smoked Mummy, More funny than interesting
The mummy is a great way of increasing the revenues in the village. Very funny to see everybody runs into the house to re-dress in tourist-costume to try to get you on the picture for a little reward. This is what tourism does. You will meet Mr. Yali, the most famous Dani who travelled to Japan and Spain to represent Papua at the world exhibition
Interesting but touristy
This is a 200 old tribal chief that has been smoked and preserved. The families lives there in this village and appear in local dress but if you take photos of them they ask for money. You can take photos of mummy and huts free but not the family. They sell souvenirs here. They will charge you 20.000 or 1$/photo. More, Jiwika is turned to be a touristic village. And people who live there take money for one click to make a photo. So, you should pay for every photo you have made. Mummy is paid extra and not for a long time they bring it. I advise to go tracking in the mountains to see real tribes and real life.
