Yes in this year 2023. The annual Baliem Valley Cultural Festival will be held on August 7 – 9 2023 in the highlands of Jayawijaya -Wamena, West Papua. There are many districts will be involved in groups and well prepared. And they are going to participate in the tribal war, mock dance, spears throwing’s attractions, walking pigs, and many cultural games will be showed at the venue. Today is Dani tribe only, but other neighboring tribes like, Lani & Yali including the subtribes are also maybe joining the event for three days of celebrations and dancing and together they mark the Baliem valley Cultural Festival. The festival aims to introduce and preserve the values and culture of traditional tribes and to symbolize the high spirit and power that have been practiced for generations..”

Baliem valley Mini cultural Festival [7th-9th Program-2023]

Day 01. Jayapura – Wamena (L)
On arrival in Wamena Airport you will be met by your guide and proceed drive to your booked hotel for check in and continue heading to police station for a travel permit/Surat Jalan, then free afternoon explore the wamena city or the local market. After all, going back to your hotel. Dinner & overnight stay at your booked hotel.

Day 02 – 03 : Wamena – Wosiala (B+L)
Having breakfast, then start driving out heading to the great festival cultural show in Walesi. Enjoy the Opening ceremony. In the Opening Ceremony there will be performance some attractions such; ( Tribal war, Puradan/ children competition, Feast Attraction/traditionally cooked, Tradition dances, Archery competition, Javelin competition, Pikon Competition/local instruments competition, and Pig race competition ) from different districts but also from some big tribes like Yali tribe and the Lani Tribe maybe attended too.
If you are interested to take a part and experience some in this competitions, there will be some contests are provided only for foreigners, like Archery and Javelin competitions, so please let us know early if you are planning to join in then we will arrange it for you. Lunch box and beverages will be provided on the festival. If you are walking around for taking pictures, your guide will stay accompany you around.

Day 04: Wamena – Amogagi Village & Mummy (B + L)
Having breakfast, and drive heading to the northern part of Baliem Valley in Dani Village called Amogagi Village. Before get to Amogagi village, we will visit Mummy & historical cave in Wosilimo. Lunch box will be provided. After finishing all activities, we will drive back to the town of Wamena at your hotel. Dinner on your account.

Day 05 : Wamena – Jayapura (B)
After breakfast, take a short transfer to the airport, check in and flying back to Jayapura.
